Philanthropy

Sigma Chi’s two primary charitable partnerships are with the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) and the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI).  Sigma Chi undergraduate and alumni chapters have raised and donated over $2.1 million to CMN and $500,000 in its first year partnering with the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

To date, the Institute’s namesake, Brother Jon Hunstman, has personally donated over $225 million toward cancer research and has committed to donate $1 to the Sigma Chi Foundation for every $1 raised for HCI through chapter philanthropy efforts.

Since 1965, our primary fundraising event (locally) for these worthwhile charities is called “Derby Days.”  This seven-day event involves each of the school’s sororities who participate in competitions, skits, etc. while helping us raise money.  Last year alone the chapter raised and donated over $10,000 to CMN.
