Recruitment Process

At the beginning of each semester fraternities engage in a week-long, recruitment event called “Rush Week.” Activities are sanctioned by the school’s Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Greek Advisor who establish the rules fraternities are supposed to abide by during the week. (This is the official week of recruitment though Sigma Chis are actively recruiting quality men throughout the year.)

At the end of Rush Week, fraternities submit a list of “bids” they intend to give out to students as an invitation to join their fraternity. Students then receive the list of fraternities that have extended them a bid and they decide which house, if any, they would like to join. (Some fraternities attempt to circumvent this process by giving bids to and pinning students before Rush Week ends, but Sigma Chi complies with IFC rules).

Those who have received and accepted a bid from Sigma Chi will be invited to Preference Dinner. At this event, students will be introduced to the chapter and their pledge trainer who will be facilitating the pledge program.
